November 2006SONGS FOR VICTIMS OF AGENT ORANGE A SUCCESSThe 'Songs for the victims of Agent Orange' which was held at the Caravelle Hotel ballroom last October 28, 2006 was a success. A total of VND238,000,000(about US$14,828) was raised and donated to Vietnam Handicapped Children Relief Organization. The money will be used to provide free treatment of the handicapped children, victims of Agent Orange.

The concert entitled, Songs For The Victims Of Agent Orange will be held at the grand ballroom of the Caravelle Hotel. Sapphire Band and the AC&M will play some sets.

Retro Music
We are a little bit nostalgic these days, playing some old tunes especially music of the 80s.
Songs like, We built this city, Jump for my love, Jump, Who can it be now?, Girls just wanna have fun, Walk like an egyptian and Walking on sunshine are included in our medley of 80s song. Songs from the group Heart like Alone, All I Wanna do, and What about love are also listed in our repertoire.
There are nights that we are playing country and alternative music.
Jenny besides pop and R n B can also sing country. Stand by your man is one of the regular guests' favourite. You will be surprised to see this gorgeous lady playing harmonica in some of our country and alternative music, especially her version of Alanis Morrisette's Hand in my pocket.
Ching proves herself to be a country singer as well by singing songs like, Crazy, Baby now that I found you, and If you love me.
It is Carlo's birthday on September 11. From all of us, HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARLO!
Activities next month:
1. We are going to perform at British Business Group Charity Fun Run on Sunday, October 1, 2006. It will start as early as 6 am. It will be held at the Saigon Zoo. See you there!
2. A charity dinner show on October 28 will be held at the ballroom of the Caravelle Hotel. Proceeds will go to the victims of Agent Orange. We will be playing a set and the main show will be the Welsch Male Choir.

Rainy Nights in Saigon
It's rainy season again in the city. Some of us may like it and some may not. The atmosphere in SSB is totally different when it is raining. But the rain keeps the audience inside and makes the place a lot more exciting.
But playing music in a semi-open air like SSB is not easy. Of course when it is raining and the doors are all closed, we have a different sound. But rain or shine, Sapphire Band will entertain you to the fullest.

Welcome new members!
Sapphire Band welcomes our two newest members. Ching Rivera and Carlo Cadiz. Both comes from a musical family. Ching's mother is a jazz singer while Carlo's father is an accomplished jazz pianist and music professor at the Philippines state university.
Ching is from Cebu, Philippines and Carlo, although born Filipino is a Thai national.
Welcome to both of you. We hope that you enjoy working with us.
